Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and jevmail when you sign in, connect Gmail, score a draft, or let an agent or app do so with your account. They are short because the service is simple. The privacy page says what jevmail reads and stores; it is part of these terms.

What jevmail does, and does not do

jevmail scores a proposed email draft against your own sent mail. It reads the conversation the draft answers and examples of what you have sent, and evaluates your saved Noul, Choice and Score questions about the draft. Answers include yes probabilities, categories or positions on your own descriptive levels, with distributions and confidence where provided. On the website, you can send a successfully reviewed draft from your Gmail account by pressing Send draft. Jevmail sends the reviewed draft without changing its content. It is a judge, not a writer: it does not compose, rewrite or critique drafts, and it gives no combined score, pass mark or permission to send.

Your account and Gmail

You sign in with Google and grant jevmail access to read Gmail. Sending requires your additional consent to send mail on your behalf. You may connect only a mailbox you own or are authorized to use this way, and you are responsible for keeping that authorization. jevmail’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect Gmail at any time in settings or from your Google Account; disconnecting revokes jevmail’s access, deletes the saved Google tokens, and ends every agent key and app token issued for your account.

Agents and apps acting for you

You may give an agent an agent key, or allow an app such as ChatGPT to use jevmail with your account through OAuth. Everything done with that key or token is done on your behalf: the Gmail drafts it creates and reviews, the questions it reads, tries, saves or removes, and the conversations it looks up. Keep keys and tokens private, give them only to agents and apps you trust, and revoke them when you no longer do. jevmail does not control what an agent does with a score, including whether it sends the email. A score is information about a draft, never an instruction to send it, and jevmail is not a party to what you or your agent send.

Scores are estimates

Each draft score is a model’s probability that the answer to one of your questions, about one draft, is yes. It is not measured accuracy, not an assessment of the draft’s content, and not a guarantee that a draft is appropriate, true, lawful or wise to send. Scores have not been calibrated against your own judgment, can change when the evidence changes, and may be wrong. Read each question, and do not treat jevmail as the only check before an email goes out. You remain responsible for every email you or your agent send.

Your content

Your mail, drafts, questions and the records of your draft calls are yours. You give jevmail only the permission it needs to provide the service to you: to read the mail the privacy page describes, to send the draft and bounded excerpts to the model for scoring, to score new inbox metadata in the background against your saved question, to send the reviewed message to its recipients when you ask, and to keep your questions for you. The draft audit is retained for 90 days from each call and delivery records for up to 90 days from the send attempt; the privacy page explains how expired records are deleted. Background inbox IDs, times, scores and handled states are retained until account deletion. jevmail does not use your mail or drafts to train or improve any model, does not sell them, and does not show them to anyone but you, the agent or app you authorized, and the model provider that scores each request. If you send jevmail suggestions about the service, jevmail may use them without owing you anything.

Acceptable use

Use jevmail only with mailboxes you are entitled to use, only for reviewing and sending your own drafts and managing your questions, and within the rate limits it states. Do not try to reach another account’s mail, questions or audit; do not probe, overload, reverse-engineer or interfere with the service; do not use it to break the law or anyone’s rights; and do not resell access or build a competing service from its output. jevmail may limit, suspend or close an account that does any of these, or that puts the service or other users at risk.

Fees

jevmail is free. If paid plans are introduced, their price, what they include and how to cancel will be stated before you are asked to pay, and nothing you use for free will start costing money without your agreement.

Changes, and stopping

jevmail will change. Features, limits and questions may be added, altered or removed, and the service may be paused or discontinued; where that affects your data, the privacy page says what remains and what is deleted. You can stop at any time by disconnecting Gmail. These terms may change too; the date at the bottom of this page shows when they last did, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Using jevmail after a change means you accept it.

No warranty, and limits of liability

jevmail is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, jevmail and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from the service or from any email sent after using it. jevmail’s total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for jevmail in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred Canadian dollars. If you are a consumer, these limits apply only as far as the law that protects you allows: in particular, Québec’s Consumer Protection Act does not let a merchant exclude liability for its own fault toward a consumer, and nothing here tries to.

Who jevmail is, and the law that applies

jevmail is operated by Ben Nevile in Montréal, Québec, Canada. These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of the district of Montréal hear any dispute we cannot settle between us, unless the law where you live gives you the right to your own courts. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act or the consumer law that applies to you, and nothing here requires you to arbitrate or keeps you from joining a class action. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
